Edelman Financial Engines (EFE), one of the nation’s leading1 independent registered investment advisors, announced the launch of a new integrated, comprehensive workplace retirement solution for small and mid-sized business owners and their employees: Edelman Financial Engines Retirement & Employee Planning Solutions.
Now available through ADP (NASDAQ: ADP), a premier provider of payroll, human capital management, and retirement services, the service includes EFE’s institutional-grade investment management, 3(38) investment management, plan consulting, and personalized financial advice to participants through a single, integrated solution.
For four decades, Edelman Financial Engines has been driven by a simple belief: everyone deserves access to high-quality, independent financial advice. This launch brings the firm’s extensive employer services and human-centered financial advice capabilities to a segment of the market that employs the majority of the American workforce.
Small and mid-sized business owners increasingly recognize that comprehensive financial wellness benefits play an important role in attracting and retaining talent, but many lack the time, resources, or capabilities to manage the administrative and fiduciary responsibilities of a retirement plan. This new offering provides business owners with one team, a transparent fee, and one coordinated retirement solution — while giving employees access to the same caliber of fiduciary advice traditionally reserved for larger workplace retirement programs, at no additional direct cost to them.
“This offering is a continuation of our mission to improve financial outcomes for retirement savers and American families through personalized advice. We’re meeting people where their financial journey begins, and working with them as they build wealth through their employer sponsored retirement plan,” said Ralph Haberli, CEO and President of Edelman Financial Engines. “Together with ADP, we are bringing the full depth of what EFE does to millions of employees who have never had access to it before. That is what this firm was built for.”
The Scale and Sophistication to Serve Every Employer
“EFE financial wellness and advisory services have been available to employees in eligible workplace retirement plans through the ADP platform since 2018,” said Chris Magno, Senior Vice President and General Manager of ADP Retirement Services. “The new service expands that relationship by delivering a more comprehensive retirement solution purpose-built for small and mid-sized businesses, offered in combination with the full-service recordkeeping, payroll integration, and plan administration capabilities of ADP.”
Through the new offering, EFE can assume 3(38) investment fiduciary responsibility at both the plan and participant level — selecting and monitoring investments, plan consulting and assistance, and providing one-on-one discretionary advisory services for individual employees. Employees also gain unlimited access to EFE’s phone-based licensed advisors, who average 10 years of industry tenure, along with on-demand digital planning tools.
