Somewear Labs, a leading provider of resilient edge networking technology, announced it has been selected to advance resilient networking capabilities in support of the Pentagon’s uncrewed systems priorities. The award is to support the Department of War’s Multi-Domain Collaborative Autonomy (MDCA) program amongst other uncrewed systems (UxS) platforms.

Somewear will expand its existing hardware and software solutions to support a broader range of UxS platform and mission sets. The award will advance network resilience through novel, secure satellite communication (SATCOM) links and intelligent networking software. The solutions equip the warfighter with capabilities for mission data to move across multiple heterogeneous networks, automatically adapting as links degrade without disrupting the applications and systems operators rely on. This approach provides the Department of War and its original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) greater flexibility to integrate new platforms, communications technologies, and capabilities at the speed of relevance.

“Maintaining assured command and control as links degrade is one of the hardest problems in fielding uncrewed systems at scale,” said Dr. An “Mike” Tran, Director of Prototyping, ODASW (P&E). “Building on proven, low-SWaP networking technology, configuring it to new requirements, and rapidly integrating it across additional platforms and missions is exactly how we accelerate capability transition to the warfighter.”

The award accelerates the momentum for integration of Somewear’s software-defined network following the company’s rapid development and operational validation of Horizon, its low-SWaP, multi-network (LOS/BLOS) radio for UxS platforms. Developed in response to an emerging operational need to maintain command and control beyond-line-of-sight, Horizon moved from concept to downrange deployment in months as Somewear worked alongside UxS manufacturers to integrate, test, and refine the technology against real-world mission needs.

James Kubik, co-founder and CEO of Somewear, adds “As the Pentagon moves to field more capable UxS at greater scale, the network must evolve with the platforms. We’ve focused on building a networking architecture that gives OEMs a faster path to integrate resilient connectivity, while providing operators the flexibility to maintain command and control as missions, platforms, and communications conditions change.”

Operators, military and government leaders, and unmanned systems OEMs can experience and learn more about Horizon by visiting the Somewear Labs booth (#516) at AUSA 2026 or by visiting somewearlabs.com.
