Independent Philadelphia retailer opens second location November 7 with personal styling, hospitality, and discovery at its center.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, September 22, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Manzanita, the independent vintage and gift boutique known for its “contemporary vintage,” distinctive goods, and highly personal styling, will open its second Philadelphia location at 711 S. 4th Street on November 7, 2026. That evening, Premiere at 711 will celebrate the store’s arrival on one of the city’s most active vintage and independent retail corridors.

For founder Dorit Avganim, Fabric Row is both personal and strategic. She has shopped and felt inspired along South 4th Street for more than 15 years, watching the historic corridor evolve into a destination for some of Philadelphia’s most compelling vintage and independent retailers. Manzanita joins that ecosystem with a belief that the concentration is precisely the point: one remarkable store can inspire a visit, but a street full of them can create a culture—and show what a destination for exceptional secondhand shopping can be.

The South 4th Street store will not duplicate the original Manzanita. At its existing storefront at 4206 Baltimore Avenue, commerce and culture work together: a strong retail point of view helps sustain a space that local artists, entrepreneurs, and organizers can use without rental fees, while the interests and inherent style of the people who gather there continually shape the store in return. The response has extended well beyond the neighborhood: in under three years, Manzanita has hosted more than 130 public programs and activations, attracted a citywide following, and earned recognition for both its styling and vintage.

At 711 S. 4th Street, Manzanita will carry Avganim’s “responsive rather than prescriptive” approach to retail forward, placing personal attention at the center of the entire environment—from the merchandise and presentation to the hospitality and ongoing relationships Manzanita customers have come to expect. The experience is built around the belief that luxury can be defined by attention, quality, beauty, and discovery—not exclusivity alone.

“Luxury is attention,” said Avganim. “It’s holding an entire vision in place without losing sight of the person standing in front of you. Manzanita has always been shaped by the people who shop with us, so as we grow, the question is: How do we make the world bigger—more imaginative, a little more glorious—without making the person feel smaller?”

At Manzanita, styling is less about prescribing a look than helping someone recognize what makes them feel most like themselves. Customers are invited to explore and experiment, with attentive guidance when they want it and the pleasure of returning to a place where their tastes may already be remembered. With nearly three times the space, the new storefront makes more room for what Avganim does best: curating what she calls contemporary vintage—clothing and accessories from the past chosen for how naturally they live in the present—alongside artful objects for home and self, unexpected gifts, special collections from independent designers and makers, and the hands-on styling for which the brand has become known.

That approach has earned recognition across Philadelphia. Avganim was named Philadelphia Magazine’s Best Stylist in 2025; Manzanita was named Best Thrift & Consignment Store by Metro Philadelphia and received Gold for Best Vintage Store in The Philadelphia Inquirer’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards. Manzanita and Avganim have also been featured by Philadelphia Magazine, Technical.ly, Metro Philadelphia, NBC10, FOX29, and PHL17.

Avganim describes Manzanita as an “analog oasis”—not a rejection of technology, but a reminder of what cannot be replicated through a screen. In a retail landscape increasingly shaped by algorithms and endless scrolling, Manzanita centers something decidedly human: discerning curation, relationship-driven hospitality, and the simple pleasure of being remembered. It is an invitation to slow down, explore, and encounter something unexpected.

Manzanita’s University City location will remain open, continuing its distinctive mix of contemporary vintage, gifts, events, and creative programming. Together, the two stores will express complementary sides of Manzanita: West as a neighborhood-centered home for commerce and culture, and South 4th Street as an immersive, styling-centered destination within Philadelphia’s larger vintage landscape.

Manzanita will celebrate its South 4th Street debut with Premiere at 711 on Saturday, November 7, from 7–11 p.m. Guests are invited to experience the new space and arrive with a sense of occasion—a reflection of Avganim’s long-held philosophy: “This is the adventure of your lifetime. Please dress accordingly.”
