Safety Industry Responds to the Climate Disaster Era as K-Safety Expo 2026 Opens Sept. 2 in Busan

K-Safety Expo 2026 brings 340 companies to Busan to showcase AI, robotics and drone technologies and expand global business partnerships.

BUSAN, GYEONGSANGNAM-DO, SOUTH KOREA, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — South Korea’s safety industry is stepping up to meet an era of increasingly complex climate disasters. K-Safety Expo 2026, the country’s largest safety industry exhibition and now in its 12th year, opens Wednesday, Sept. 2, and runs through Friday, Sept. 4, at BEXCO in Busan, jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Busan Metropolitan City.

Launched in 2015, K-Safety Expo has grown into Korea’s leading platform for showcasing the technologies and products of the country’s disaster and safety companies while helping them break into overseas markets. Last year’s event generated 798 business consultations over three days, leading to contracts worth an estimated 351.4 billion KRW (about 256 million USD), and drew 39,854 visitors.

This year’s expo, held under the theme “Convergence of Advanced Technology, the Future of Safety,” brings together 340 domestic and international companies and organizations operating 920 booths, with a lineup centered on the latest disaster and safety technologies and products built on artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and drones.

The exhibition halls are divided into special and general pavilions. The special pavilions include the Advanced Safety Technology Pavilion, where 131 companies operate 256 booths to present AI-, robot- and drone-based technologies, and the Global Pavilion, where 22 companies from nine countries, including Japan, China and Germany, operate 28 booths. Representative exhibits include an AI-based real-time urban flooding prediction platform from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), industrial and fire-safety inspection robots from the Korea Institute of Robot & Convergence (KIRO), and ultra-compact indoor inspection drones from Liberaware Co., Ltd.

The general pavilion is organized into six themed sections: Natural Disaster, Safety in Daily Life, Public Security, Fire & Rescue, Industrial Safety, and Transportation & Maritime Safety. Public-sector pavilions from Seoul, Busan, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gyeongnam and other regions run alongside them to support local disaster and safety companies in expanding their markets.

Inside the exhibition hall, the Safety Experience Zone offers hands-on scenarios covering entrapment and electric-shock accidents, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) practice, and virtual reality (VR) simulations of industrial safety and safe driving. Hyundai Motor Co.’s mobile safety experience vehicle and Korea Expressway Corporation’s vehicle rollover simulation facility will also be on site.

Business programs to support exhibitors’ market expansion have also been strengthened. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is working with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea Disaster & Safety Industrial Technology Research Association, and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership (KCCP) to invite 100 overseas buyer companies and 83 domestic buyer companies, arranging one-on-one export and procurement consultations with participating companies.

The Global Disaster Safety Business Forum will bring together figures from international organizations, including the deputy secretary-general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the head of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, along with government officials from countries such as Cambodia and global companies and experts. Participants will share perspectives on disaster and safety policy and international cooperation, and discuss innovation in advanced technologies such as physical AI. Alongside the forum, 42 academic and professional conferences, including the International Seminar on Disaster Management Cooperation, will run in parallel to share the latest policy trends and research findings.
